FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

East Fork Ember Foundation Postpones Inaugural Mud Run
New Date to Be Announced for Next Year

September 25, 2026 - The East Fork Ember Foundation has announced the postponement of its Inaugural Mud Run, originally planned for this year, with the event now expected to be rescheduled for next year.

The decision was made after careful consideration and consultation with East Fork Fire Protection District leadership, including Chief Ernst, as devastating wildfires impacting the Reno area and surrounding region continue to place extraordinary demands on firefighters and emergency personnel.

“At this time, our firefighters and our community are facing far greater demands,” Foundation Chairman Rick Nelson said. “Postponing the Mud Run is the right and necessary decision. While this is disappointing, our focus must remain on supporting the men and women who are working around the clock to protect lives, property, and our region.”

The Foundation emphasized that the postponement was not made lightly. The event was created to support firefighters and strengthen community connection, but moving forward under current conditions would place an undue burden on the very people the Foundation is committed to serving.

The Ember Foundation also expressed its deep appreciation to sponsors, partners, volunteers, and committee members who have helped bring the event this far. Organizers confirmed that all sponsorships will be honored in full and carried forward to the rescheduled Inaugural Mud Run next year.

To our firefighters and to the entire community: you are in our thoughts, the Foundation shared. What you are facing is extraordinary, and our focus right now is with you. We are grateful for the dedication, resilience, and hard work of everyone involved, and we will come back stronger next year.

Further details, including a new date for the Mud Run, will be announced at a later time.

Bridging Critical Gaps

The East Fork Ember Foundation serves as the official nonprofit partner to the East Fork Fire Protection District, established in 2025 to address a crucial need in our community. We understand that protecting Carson Valley requires more than just brave firefighters—it demands cutting-edge equipment, comprehensive training, and innovative programs that keep our first responders prepared for any emergency.

Our foundation exists because we recognize that public funding alone cannot meet all the demands of modern emergency response. From life-saving breathing apparatus to advanced training programs, the needs of our firefighters continue to evolve with new challenges and technologies. That's where community partnership becomes essential.

Through strategic partnerships with local businesses, dedicated community members, and corporate sponsors, we channel resources directly to where they're needed most. Every dollar donated translates into tangible tools and programs that enhance the safety and effectiveness of our emergency response teams.
